Video game police testing and training

This is a proposal to test and train police officers via video game like system that mimics real life.

In New Jersey, the US Justice department has sat aside promotion lists because the test is biased. The test favors reading and writing rather than real policing skills.

This proposal is for a company to create real, interactive, situational testing that is much more realistic and unbiased. The testing would lead to a more representative police force and better qualified candidates.

Black Women oriented business in Entertainment

Many of us have noticed the rise in spending power of Black Women over the past 20 years. Not only have salaries and earning increased for Black Women, but they have higher consumption rates than many other groups. A double bonus for marketing and sales.

So any product that is geared toward Black women is likely to do well.

The obvious list includes shoes, clothes and makeup. But those categories are saturated. How many pairs of shoes can you wear at a time? There seems to be an opening for "social" or "experience" spend such as travel, dining out with friends, plays, movies, spas, or new experiences. In other words: Arts & Entertainment

A great example of this is the plays of Tyler Perry that provide a wholesome night out of entertainment. Or movies like the Best Man, Jumping the Broom or Love and Basketball which attract huge audiences.

Now I have seen a new trend where small, Black, women oriented play companies performing Black written and directed works with a Black cast in local venues or schools for a short time. I am not sure you can leverage or scale this type of business, but it is nice to see the activity.

Computer networking and network management

We this is less a business you can start and a good job opportunity.

Despite outsourcing, computer network management remains strong. Even the the server is "in the cloud" you still need skilled, capable technicians to support the in-house connections and the desktop. There is always changes due to new technologies, devices and clients that the network technician has to deal with.

The good news is that network techicians typically require only a high school degree.

Unarmed Security Services

The demand for security services is at an all time high. As the economy worsens, people are willing to pay more to protect what they have. Small and medium sized security companies are growing fast. Most of the jobs are unarmed, "watchers" who will notify central command or the police if there is a disturbance.

These guard typically watch personal property such as cars in a park lot. Supermarkets, malls and plazas. Study the paper or the local police blotter to see if a particular mall has an auto theft problem. Or the local supermarket has a theft problem. Then step in to fill the gap.

Selling food on the Street or from a Van

Selling food on the street is another good bet.

Bag and Purse Sales on the Street

Knock off bag and purse sales on the street are always a good bet. All the merchandise comes from the experts copiers in China. You just have to keep the inventory fresh and know when to discount the slow movers. And you have to get a good location which is tough.

Towing Business

I have noticed a few tow trucks on the road. When I google the price of a two truck they went for $15,000 to $60,000 (used to new)(Flat beds were more than tow trucks)

Get a Truck. Haul a load.

We are going to look at the economics of one occupation: Long-haul truck driving.

Long-haul trucking driving has always had a cowboy image. Just you and the open road. One man against the world.

Being an independent owner / operator is still profitable. You make from $35,000 to $70,000 dollars driving depending on the type of load, how far away from home you are willing to go and how hard you want to work. Also, like any other industry, the best loads are "reserved" for "friends" in the network. You must have a CDL.

There are lots of internet load boards with postings for jobs and loads but the quality of the load and payment is unclear.

Here is the business model.

Good used trucks cost $25,000 to $40,000. You need $4,000 - $5,000 for a down payment. New trucks are $80,000 to $100,000. $2500 to $5000 for a flatbed. Less for a container frame.

So the monthly expenses are $500-$900 for truck payments. Insurance is $600. Other expenses: $300. Monthly total FIXED operating expenses: $1600. Or $1600/20 = $80 per day.

Gas is $3.00 per gallon. Six (6) miles to the gallon or $0.50 cents a mile.
Truck maintenance is at $0.10 cents per mile.

So the rig costs $80 dollars a day plus 60 cents a mile. So for a 1000 miles for 2 days it would cost. $80*2 days ($160) plus 0.60*1000 miles ($600) = $760 dollars in costs. $0.76 a mile.

Loads are $1.00 to $1.50 a mile. You profit is $1.00-0.76 = 0.24 cents a miles for a dollar a mile up to 0.74 cents when they pay $1.50 a mile. So thats $240 dollars for two days (or about $15 dollars an hour for an 8 hour day) to $740 dollars ($45 bucks an hour) for two days. The real average is somewhere in between around $20 to $25 dollars an hour. We also use an 8 hour day not a typical 10 hour day.

Real Estate is a great long term business

Owning Real Estate is the best way for the average person to save money. Is is also the best business you can start for yourself. It has two built in bonuses that make it work. One: You have to live somewhere so why not rent from yourself; two: money spent on mortgage loan interest can be dudced from your tax return.

As my grandaddy said buy land, son, "It's the only thing they are not making any more of."

Cleaning and Janitorial Service

The demand for home cleaning continues to be strong. The population is aging, but many old people would like to remain in their homes. The keys are comfort, professionalism, and trust. Price is secondary.
